The Challenge
The jobholder will support the growth of the European Electronics Industry, more specifically the support of application engineering activities in the European Electronics Application Center. He/She will work on customer applications in fields like thermal management materials and protecting, bonding and assembly of electronic devices for several different markets such as Automotive Electronics market. The primary objective is that new opportunities and applications can be quickly and successfully closed so the industry can grow in a sustainable way. The individual will be involved in the application aspect of new products and responsible to work with the customer and equipment suppliers to assure the product is meeting the needs of the customer and the application. Special Application Development (AD) or Application Engineering (AE) projects could be assigned to the person. This position will require interaction with other functions like AD, sales and marketing colleagues in other geographic areas to share and acquire knowledge. The jobholder will support training events to increase the knowledge level of Dow Corning personnel and customers. This role will include hands-on lab work, reporting in CRM, literature search and presentations to internal/external customers, internal technical publication. The creative jobholder is able to address the customer needs exactly and able to provide effective troubleshooting. The location for this position is Seneffe.

The profile

The ideal candidate:
has a MsC/PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering and/or materials science
has basic knowledge of electronics, knowledge of auto-electronics is an asset
is hand-on oriented
has an analytical mind (troubleshooting)
has excellent organization skills and can work with efficiency
is able to manage several projects at the same time
has good skills in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook, knowledge of Design of Experiments is an asset
has good communication skills
is creative, an excellent team player and shows initiative
has excellent English and German language skills (written, read and spoken), French language skills are an asset
