Medical Copywriter - Cape Town - South Africa

Job description
The Medical copywriter develops medical documentation by compiling, organizing and interpreting technical medical information and then presenting that information in a form appropriate for the intended audience as clear text that the reader can easily understand. With the guidance of Medical Practitioners and Researchers, the medical copywriter will be required to produce detail aids, education materials for health care professionals or for patients, clinical reports, case studies, PPT presentations, brochures and news articles.

The medical copywriter shall also be reviewing medical journals; technical reports, books and health care-related electronic media content to update their knowledge in the medical field.

The work of a medical copywriter involves strong skills in such areas not only as writing but also analytical and research skills.

Requirements
• Three to five years' experience as a Digital copywriter (websites, electronic communication, social media, blogs, advertising).
• Excellent skills and solid experience in Social Media management / moderation and campaigns.
• Good understanding of writing copy to ensure optimal return on SEO.
• The copywriter will work closely with the Medical Researcher, Medical Practitioners and Digital Team.
• Ability to write for a consumer audience, transferring complex material into crisp, simple stories.
• Ability to write for an audience of Health professionals.
• Knows how to review copy of a technical or medical nature to ensure accuracy of content.
• Demonstrates the ability to review existing materials, gather appropriate in-house resources, and identify further research needs to begin a project.
• Follows through on original concepts with clear, concise and convincing copy that is both grammatically and materially sound.
• Delivers work within given deadlines.
• Stays current on industry practices and regulatory requirements that affect medical content and copy.

• Strong personality to manage the demands of Medical Practitioners.
• Very important that the individual works independently, is proactive, creative and consistent with strategy.
